Announcing an Emergency Management Research Project

Header from my sister site and research project: Comparisons Between New Zealand and United States Air- and Seaport Emergency Management.

Six weeks in Aotearoa New Zealand would be a heckuva opportunity to squander.

Among countries located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, Aotearoa New Zealand and the United States of America’s west coast states of Washington, Oregon, and California share similar hazards and are located at similar relational latitudes.

The two countries have collaborated over the years on emergency management to share ideas and best practices. Less explored are the similarities and differences between the transportation sector’s air- and seaport emergency management.

Researching the two countries’ air- and seaport emergency management practices will help identify planning gaps, facilitate information sharing, and forge partnerships benefiting the transportation sector, facility users, and the public served by the sector.

A photo of Kati and Ted smiling with a restaurant in the background.

Kati: native Minnesotan, dog crazy, loves to plan and organize anything, works in emergency management and communications.

Ted: military brat and US Navy veteran that calls Dallas home, home brewer, artist, works in industrial heating and cooling maintenance.
Both: currently living in Seattle, love cooking/grilling/smoking, traveling (ask us about Mexico), and being goofy.
